The Catholic Church in Uganda is part of the worldwide Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope in Rome. There are an estimated 13.4 million Catholics — 39.3% of the total population, estimated at 34.1 million in 2014.[1][2] There are four ecclesiastical provinces, divided into 19 dioceses and archdioceses:
The Catholic Church celebrates on June 3 the feast of the Uganda Martyrs — Saint Charles Lwanga[3] and his companions — who died between 1885 and 1887.
