Celeste Dring is an English comedy writer and actress, best known for her roles as Lauren Richards in the BBC TV series Wanderlust and as Princess Eugenie in Channel 4's The Windsors.

Early life[]

Celeste Dring is from Wolverhampton, England. She studied English at the University of Cambridge and graduated in July 2010. Dring wrote an article for the university magazine Varsity for 12 November 2010, Issue Nr.729 (page 24) [1] Dring started her career as a dance director at the Central Youth Theatre, Wolverhampton and directed the senior production of Glamour and Romance for Everybody Dance Now for the Central Youth Theatre's Cultural Olympiad Project in 2011.(see talk) [2]

Comedy career[]

Dring chose comedy after being influenced by the 1999 beauty pageant comedy film Drop Dead Gorgeous [3] and worked stand-up with her partner Freya Parker in the comedy duo Lazy Susan.[3] She first appeared on screen in her own co-written comedy sketches at the Edinburgh Festival in 2013.[4] A further appearance at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe found "Lazy Susan" nominated for the comedy newcomer award.[5] In 2016, Dring landed a main role as Princess Eugenie in Channel 4's The Windsors alongside actress Ellie White, who plays her royal sister Princess Beatrice.[6] Dring later purported that her characterisation of Eugenie is based on characters in Made in Chelsea than that of real-life.[7]

Dring appeared as Kayleigh Hudson a regular character in the BBC3 comedy series This Country in 2018.[8] Dring also appeared as Laura in BBC's Wanderlust the same year.[9]

Dring also does a lot of voice work on radio, she has voiced parts in BBC Radio 4's Sketchorama in 2015, [10][11] and Newsjack in 2017,[12] and in Revenge of the Spoken Nerd.[11]
