Chandar Bhan Brahman

Chandar Bhan Brahman also known as Chandra Bhan and Chandrabhan was an Indian poet of Urdu language born in Lahore (Date of birth is unknown while he died in the year 1662–63) during Mughal era. He belongs to a Brahman family thus his pen name was "Brahman". His father Dharam Das was a government official in the Mughals service. Brahman served as a secretary (Munshi) to the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (1628–1658).

Brahman was influenced with and developed a strong respect for Dervish and Yogis. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan was very impressed by Barahman's knowledge of Persian literature, Calligraphy and interest in Urdu poetry, Brahman was appointed as court chronicler and he was give responsibility for maintaining Shah Jahan's personal diary. He wrote a memoir Chahar Chaman.
