Life[]
Abraham was born in 1857. He was the son of Caroline Abraham and her husband who was also to be a bishop.[2] He was educated at Keble College, Oxford.[3] Ordained in 1881, he began his career with a curacy at St Mary's, Shrewsbury[4] and was subsequently Vicar of All Saints, Shrewsbury and Christ Church, Lichfield before succeeding Edward Were as Bishop of Derby.[5] His father, Charles,[6] and his son, Philip,[7] were also bishops; another son, Geoffrey, was killed in action during the First World War.[8] After he retired, a cousin bequeathed Little Moreton Hall in Congleton to him.[9] He died on 27 January 1945.
