Chaucer Group is a leading international specialty insurance and reinsurance group. They are headquartered in London, with international hubs for Europe, MENA, Bermuda, Latin America and Asia. Chaucer was acquired by China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation (China Re) in 2018.[1]

Chaucer clients can underwrite their risk through Lloyd's of London or through their insurance company in Dublin.

Chaucer currently manages two Syndicates at Lloyd's – Composite 1084 and Nuclear 1176 which together underwrite over 45 major classes of business.

We are a recognised market leader in international energy markets, with clients in both traditional and renewable sectors. We also lead in emerging markets for political risk & credit and political violence, using our integrated underwriting and claims approach to offer a fully responsive service.

Within casualty, we are a lead market in London for medical malpractice liability, working flexibly with healthcare institutions and practitioners to develop sophisticated risk solutions for an increasingly litigious marketplace around the world.

Our marine team is another established practice that continues to innovate, with the online ForwarderLink cargo cover solution just one example of recent developments.  

Within international property, we have increased our appetite for business, attracting an experienced leadership team to strengthen our presence and capability in this important market.

For reinsurance business, we deploy 10 specialist teams of international and US underwriters to offer clients leading cross class and service delivery expertise worldwide, based on our own independent view of risk.
