"Cherry Bomb" is a song by American rock singer John Mellencamp. It was released as the second single from Mellencamp's 1987 album entitled The Lonesome Jubilee.[1]

"Cherry Bomb" is a nostalgic song that reflects on Mellencamp's teenage years hanging out at the Last Exit Teen Club.[2][3] The single was a success in the U.S., reaching number 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart,[4] #12 on the Adult Contemporary Chart,[4] and #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[4] The music video for the song features a young couple dancing intimately with one another near a jukebox while Mellencamp dances by himself, various home movie footage, and footage of Mellencamp and his band performing the song on the beach in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
