The China Travel Service (CTS; Chinese: 中国旅行社总社) is the tourism and travel agency of the government of the People's Republic of China. It was established on 19 November 1949 tasked with marketing China to the rest of the world and to promote and develop its tourism economy. It is a subordinate agency to the National Tourism Administration.[1]

As of 2020, one of CTS' hotels, the Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay Hong Kong, houses the Office for Safeguarding National Security of the CPG in the HKSAR.[2]

Suspected doxxing of Hong Kong journalists[]

In 2020, it was alleged that a doxxing website targeting journalists of the pro-democracy Hong Kong newspaper Apple Daily was linked to China Travel Service (Hong Kong). The website published photos, personal information, and phone numbers for more than 100 Apple Daily staff. Many of the doxxed journalists alleged that the headshots that appeared on the website were only used for mainland travel permit applications submitted through China Travel Service.[3]
