Chinsali is a town in Chinsali District of Zambia, and is the provincial headquarters of Muchinga Province. It lies 15 km west of the Great North Road and about 180 kilometres (112 miles) north-north-east of Mpika. It lies 28 kilometres (17 miles) south-east of the Chambeshi River but only 6 kilometres (4 miles) from the edge of the river's floodplain. The district is home to Chief Chibesakunda of the Bisa people.

Coordinates: 10°32′S 32°03′E / 10.533°S 32.050°E / -10.533; 32.050 Chinsali is home mainly to the Bemba people, and to their Senior Chief Nkula who is eligible to ascend to the throne of Paramount Chief of the Bemba People based in Mungwi District of Northern Province. Lubwa Mission, a former mission station, was the birthplace of former first president of Zambia Kenneth Kaunda.
