Chloé Elizabeth Lukasiak (born May 25, 2001) is an American actress, dancer, author and model [1] She is best known for being an original cast member of Lifetime's reality television series Dance Moms during Season 1 through Season 4.[2] She returned as a guest during the Season 7A finale and had a recurring role in Season 7B.

Early life[]

Lukasiak was born on May 25, 2001 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania[3] to Christi (née Zook) and Marc Lukasiak.[4] She has a younger sister, Clara.[5] The family resides in Mars, Pennsylvania.[6] She is of Polish, Scottish, German, and Italian descent.[7]

Lukasiak began dance classes at the Abby Lee Dance Company at age two.[6] At first, she did "the basics" such as jazz and ballet. But as she got older she started to do more styles and has trained in everything except ballroom.[8] From the ages of five to thirteen, Lukasiak competed throughout the United States as part of ALDC, winning numerous titles at the regional, state, and national levels.[9] Lukasiak competed on Dance Moms in many dance genres: lyrical, contemporary, musical theatre, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, acro, Spanish, and Bollywood.[6][8]

Career[]

2011–14: Dance Moms[]

In 2011, Lukasiak and her mother, alongside Abby Lee Dance Company owner Abby Lee Miller, other young dancers, and their mothers, were cast on Lifetime's Dance Moms. Together they made up Miller's Junior Elite Competition Team.

After the Los Angeles national competition in July 2014 (filmed for an episode aired October 7, 2014), Lukasiak's mother decided that the environment of the TV show along with her own negative relationship with Miller was detrimental to her daughter and they decided to leave ALDC.[10] The finale episode of Season 4 was their last appearance on Dance Moms because of Miller being unappreciative about the fact that Chloe was the highest scoring ALDC soloist at Nationals, beating Kendall and Kamryn.[11][a] After the end of Season 4, Lukasiak left ALDC for good and switched to Studio 19 Dance Complex.[13]

2014–present: Post-Dance Moms career[]

After leaving "Dance Moms", Lukasiak became active on her YouTube channel, gaining over 260 million views and over 2.22 million subscribers as of March 2021.[14] On September 17, 2016, Lukasiak started a vlogging YouTube channel, which garnered over 50k subscribers and 300k views; Lukasiak has not posted on the channel since September 2017.[15]

Lukasiak's competition team from Studio 19 went on to win nationals in July 2015.[16] She won "Choice Dancer" at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards[17] and the "Dancers Choice Award" for "Favorite Dancer 17 & Under" at the 2015 Industry Dance Awards.[18] She was nominated for a Shorty Award but lost to Misty Copeland.[19] She was once again nominated for the 2016 & 2017 Teen Choice Awards "Choice Dancer" but lost to former "Dance Moms" cast member Maddie Ziegler.[20]

Lukasiak became a spokesmodel for Just For Kix, an American dancewear company, in October 2014. With the company's partnership, she created an anti-bullying campaign called #NobodyisYOU. She was featured in several music videos relating to the cause alongside dancers such as Averee Jade.[21][22]

Lukasiak has appeared in numerous music videos, as during the filming of Dance Moms she appeared in videos for artists Brooke Hyland[23] and LUX (daughter of actor Ted Danson).[24] In 2015, she appeared as the lead for Jess Godwin's song "Fool Me Once".[25] Solveig Romero's "Turn It Up"[26] and Bianca Ryan's "Alice",[27] as well as "Wrapped Up For Christmas" by Forever in Your Mind and a promotional dance video for Just For Kix dancewear (titled "Lovely"). In 2016, Lukasiak appeared in AJ Lehrman's music video for his new single "Tongue" and an video for "Piece By Piece," which was featured on CNN.[28] Lukasiak also recently appeared in a music video in 2019 for Barbie called "We're Taking Over."[29]

Lukasiak began modeling for such fashion lines as Glitzy Girl and Sally Miller in 2012.[6] After leaving Dance Moms, she modeled for 90 Degrees by Reflex, Goodhyouman, Boy Meets Girl, and BCBG Max Azria (runway).[30] In 2016, Lukasiak became the new face of StyleHaul.[31] Lukasiak has modeled for many different photographers some of which are Jordan Matter, Lucy Helena and Ashley Roberts. Lukasiak was cast as Gwen Murphy in the Lifetime TV movie Center Stage: On Pointe.[42] She was later cast as Savannah Stocker in Cowgirl's Story alongside former Bridge to Terabithia star Bailee Madison.[43] Chloe has since been cast in 4 movies, two short films and a character for a story called Limelight in an Interactive app called YarnTexts. In 2016, Lukasiak partnered with Ownzones.com to launch her web series called Chloe on Pointe.[44] In 2016, Lukasiak collaborated with Playtex Sport[45] and starred in their "Ready, Set, Play On!" campaign commercial.[46]

On April 22, 2021, Lukasiak appeared in the Earth Day short Earth Day! The Musical with Bill Nye, Justin Bieber, Zac Efron and other celebrities on Facebook Watch.[54]

Personal life[]

In an interview, Lukasiak said she practices dancing four days a week except when she is traveling.[55] She stopped competing in dance competitions in 2016 due to her growing list of commitments.[56] Outside of dance, Lukasiak makes time for friends including her former ALDC teammates Paige Hyland,[57] Nia Frazier,[58] and Brooke Hyland.[59]

In an interview released on June 15, 2016, Lukasiak said she was grateful to Dance Moms because it showed her how much she loves acting and that she has a passion for it.[60] In 2015, Lukasiak was diagnosed with silent sinus syndrome, and had surgery to correct the condition.[61] In 2018, Lukasiak teamed up with Girls' Life to launch Chloe's Book Club.[62] However, in 2020, the partnership was discontinued and the book club became Bestie Book Club.[63] In 2019, Lukasiak was accepted into Pepperdine University where she is studying integrated marketing with a creative writing minor, and is on track to graduate in 2023.[64] In April 2020, Lukasiak revealed that she had been battling an eating disorder for the past few years by posting a poem that she had written about it on her Instagram account.[65][66] In February 2021, Lukasiak started back up her book club ran completely by her instead of a partnership.[67][68]
