Cho Ju-bin (Korean조주빈) is a South Korean criminal who was convicted of blackmail and sexual harassment as part of the "Nth Room" case.

Biography[]

Born in 1995, Cho studied Information and Communications at Inha Technical College.[1] He had completed his compulsory military service in South Korea from 2016 to 2017.[2] He also joined several voluntary services (e.g. at an orphanage).[2]

Cho was reported as a hardworking student with 4.0 CGPA and was part of anti-violation campaigns at his university.[2][3]

Implication in Nth room case[]

In early 2020, the Nth room case garnered national attention in South Korea. On March 23, the Seoul Broadcasting System revealed the personal information of the suspect, Cho, after conducting its own investigation.[4] The next day, police also confirmed his identity.[5]

Cho was widely accused of sexual harassment,[2][5] with some of the victims being minors, including secondary students.[6] It was also reported that he threatened Sohn Suk-hee, an anchor for JTBC.[7]

In an interview on March 25, Cho said, "Thank you for putting the brakes on the life of a devil that could not be stopped."[3][8]

Sentence[]

On November 26, 2020, Cho was found guilty of his crimes and sentenced to 40 years in prison. He reportedly said he wanted to apologize to his victims.[9]
