Cirrhilabrus briangreenei, the Latigo fairy wrasse,[1] is a species of wrasse that lives in the waters of Indonesia, Philippines, Western Pacific Ocean.[2] It can be found at depths from 82 - 110 m, and was known for a long time in the aquarium trade but only in 2020 received a scientific name.[3] This species can reach a total length of 1.57 - 2.76 cm. It feeds on amphipods, brine shrimps, copepods, cyclops, , fish larvae, invertebrates, lobster eggs and zooplankton.[2]

This species Cirrhilabrus briangreenei is named in honor of , who in addition to collecting the type specimens, has contributed extensively towards the study and exploration of coral reef diversity through deep technical diving.[2] To be treated as a noun in apposition. The common name ‘‘latigo’’ is Tagalog for ‘‘whip,’’ given in reference to the long, slender pelvic fins.[2]
