The City Market was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its architectural significance in 1978.[1]

History[]

The market was commissioned as part of the City Beautiful movement. In 1977, it was designated a landmark by the Madison Landmarks Commission.[2] The building has been used as a dance hall, teen center and as a garage for the city streets department.
