Clare Lilley

Clare Lilley is a British art curator and Director of Programme,[1][2] at Yorkshire Sculpture Park in 2014 named the UK Art Fund Museum of the Year. She graduated with a degree in the History of Art from Manchester University and has a particular expertise in curating and siting sculpture in the public realm. Since 2012 she has curated Frieze Sculpture [3][4][5][6][7] in London’s Regents Park and she has curated William Turnbull for Chatsworth House,[8] Derbyshire and Jaume Plensa at San Giorgio Maggiore as Venice Biennale collateral event.[9]

Her curated work with artists includes Ai Weiwei,[10] Fiona Banner,[11] Damien Hirst,[12] Amar Kanwar, KAWS,[13] Kimsooja, Alfredo Jaar,[14][15] Shirin Neshat,[16] Giuseppe Penone,[17] Jaume Plensa,[18][19] Sean Scully,[20] Yinka Shonibare CBE,[21] David Smith,[22][23] James Turrell,[24] Joana Vasconcelos [25] and Bill Viola.[26]

Lilley sits on the Advisory Committee of the Government Art Collection and the boards of Art UK, London, the George Rickey Foundation, New York and the Jupiter Artland Foundation, Edinburgh. She is a nominator for the Nasher Sculpture Prize and has been a judge for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Visual Art Awards, the Kleinwort Hambros Emerging Artist Award and the Eden Project Pollinator Commission. She has conducted a number of in-conversations with artists, including Lubaina Himid,[27] Thomas J Price, Roger Hiorns, Yinka Shonibare CBE, Kalliopi Lemos,[28] KAWS [29] and Tom Sachs & Richard Wentworth.[30] She is the author of Clay and Ceramic in Contemporary Art, published by Phaidon Vitamin C.

Lilley has twice been cited on the Artylst Alt Power List [31][32] and her comments feature in a number of periodicals [33][34][35][36][37][38]
