Clean is a 2021 American action thriller film[3] directed by Paul Solet and starring Adrien Brody, who also produced and wrote the film.[1]

Plot[]

Clean is a garbage man. He is troubled by a violent past and the loss of his daughter. When a mishap makes him the target of a crime boss, Clean is forced to come to terms with his past.

Cast[]

Release[]

The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 19, 2021.[4][5]

On September 1, 2021, it was announced that IFC Films acquired North American distribution rights to the film.[6][7] It was released in theaters on January 28, 2022.[8]

Reception[]

Box office[]

In the United States and Canada, the film earned $162,098 from 254 theaters in its opening weekend.[9]

Critical response[]

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 43% of 28 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.4/10.[10]

Nick Schager of Variety gave the film a negative review and wrote, "Obvious and derivative in borderline-shameless fashion, it’s a B-movie knock-off with little originality and even less flair."[1] Andrew Mack of Screen Anarchy gave the film a positive review and wrote that Brody and Solet "made a compact vision of the Man With a Past type thriller and given it more emotional heft than most of its predecessors combined".[11]
