Cotaena tchalla is a species of sedge moth in the genus Cotaena. It was described by Jae-Cheon Sohn and John B. Heppner in 2015. It is found in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The length of the forewings is about 10.7 mm. The forewings are dark brown, with a purplish or bluish luster and a dark grayish-brown fringe. The hindwings are dark brown, paler anteromarginally.

Etymology[]

The species is derived from T'Challa, also known as the Black Panther. A fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics. The name refers to the dark coloration of the species.[1]
