MRI Investment Management (formerly "Cougar Software") provides budgeting, planning and forecasting software for real estate investors in the commercial real estate industry globally. Cougar Software was founded in Australia in 1992. The company has offices in Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and U.S. and in February 2015 was acquired by MRI Software of Solon, Ohio.[3]

History[]

Cougar Software was founded in Sydney, Australia in 1992 by Bruce Millar.[4] Oren Rosen, who previously held leadership positions with firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers,[5] joined Cougar Software as Vice President in 2007,[6] and then took over as the company's Chief Executive Officer in 2008.

In 2014, Rosen was appointed to the board of the Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate (OSCRE),[7] reinforcing the company's support of OSCRE industry standards.[8]

Cougar Software was acquired by MRI Software on February 3, 2015 and is now referred to as "MRI Investment Management."[12]

MRI Investment Management (Cougar Software) principals are regularly called upon to speak and participate in panels at real estate industry conferences and symposia.[13]

Products[]

MRI Investment Management's approach to asset management, budget management, valuation, debt and fund management software solutions in commercial real estate is based on financial modeling, including: managing debt covenants; scenario modeling; what-if analysis; sensitivity analysis; and balance sheet forecasting.

Recognition[]

Cougar Software was a 2014 finalist in the Real Estate Technology Innovation category of the "Digie" Awards.[14]

The Digie Award winners for technology innovation in 2012/2013/2014 include two Cougar Software customers - Walmart Realty and TIAA-CREF.
