Cristian Tănase (Romanian pronunciation: [kristiˈan təˈnase]; born 18 February 1987) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays mainly as a winger for Liga I club FC Argeș Pitești.
He spent most of his years in Romania with Argeș Pitești and FCSB, and also had stints at several clubs in China and Turkey throughout his career.
Internationally, Tănase totalled 40 caps for the Romania national team between 2008 and 2015.
Club career[]

Tănase began his career on the youth side for Argeș Pitești and in summer 2003 was promoted to the first team which played in the Liga I. He only played in a handful of games in his first years with the Romanian team[3] and as a result he was loaned to Dacia Mioveni for the first half of the 2005–06 campaign. He gathered five games for the Mioveni team.[2]
After his return to Argeș Pitești he became an important player in the team gathering more than 100 games before his departure.[4]
Steaua București[]
On 6 August 2009 he signed a five-year contract with Steaua București for an undisclosed fee, though media reports estimated it to be €1.8 million for buying 50% of the player's rights.[5][6]
On 13 December 2009 he scored his first goal for Steaua in a 3–2 victory against Internațional Curtea de Argeș, which was a winning goal in the 72nd minute.[7]
In the 2010–11 season he scored three goals, two in the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League and one from a volley against Liga I side Pandurii Târgu Jiu.
In the 2011–12 season he scored in a 4–0 win against Liga I side Mioveni and scored the goal against CSKA Sofia that qualified his team for the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League group stage. He contributed two essential goals against Maccabi Haifa in the group stage. During his last season at the club, he was the team's captain, and most important player.[citation needed]
Tianjin TEDA[]
After six years of playing for Steaua, Tănase left for Chinese club Tianjin TEDA, signing a two-year deal with the club, leaving for a transfer fee of 700,000 pounds.
Sivasspor[]
After one year of playing for Tianjin TEDA, Tănase left for Turkish club Sivasspor, signing a two-year deal with the club.
Kardemir Karabükspor[]
After half a year of playing for Sivasspor, Tănase left for another Turkish club Kardemir Karabükspor, signing a two-year deal with the club.
Return to FCSB[]
In January 2018, Tănase returned to FCSB, signing a six-month contract with the club.
Eskişehirspor[]
