Student life and activities[]
Student life[]
There is a big difference in student life from other South Korea universities. Because this university has its own original purpose, it impose considerably strict curriculum on students. They don't have much freedom about class choices compared to other universities. However, these strict curriculum doesn't mean that, rather than that, courses of university are useless, it is close to make meaningful results with hard-working systems.
Due to the South Korean educational system, elementary school instructors have to teach all subjects, it has only one Undergraduate course. The university not only took opposite ways from education system in South Korea, but also opted for making twelve divided minor departments in one Major for complementing professionalism. It is very common situation among South Korea's educational universities. Then, all of students in DNUE not share perfectly same courses but take almost similar courses.
Department style minor courses also contribute to DNUE's distinctive student culture. Commonly said minor departments as "class" among students, in Korea, it is a word used in Elementary/Middle/High School not in University. And, Once classes are decided, they continue until graduation. They attend and participate almost similar courses(though there are some selective lectures) during four years. It seems that this cultural character naturally gives nice chance to communicate and intimate themselves(who head to be teacher working locally in a future). But there are pros and cons on this question, because someone criticizes that these systematic limits will deprive students of various social experience enjoyments essentially needed for teaching.
