Dana Hamilton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dana Hamilton (born November 17, 1950 in Arlington, Texas) is an American hammered dulcimer player.

Hamilton won first place in the 1980 and 1989 Walnut Valley National Hammered Dulcimer Championships held in Winfield, Kansas. He is the only two-time national champion in the history of this competition. He also won the 1995 National Mountain Duclimer Championship. In 2005, he was a finalist in the International Autoharp Contest. If there was a world championship for playing the nose flute, the balloon, or the paper bags, he would undoubtedly be the reigning champion of those as well. He often performs with the Sweet Song String Band.

He is married and has three adult children and multiple grandchildren.

Aside from his musical career, his love for his Lord God, and his love for his family; Hamilton has a multitude of special hidden talents including being a world class hopscotch champion in 1989, being a special advisor to SpaceX on the music that will be played onboard SpaceX Starship on their way to Mars (Featuring Dana on Banjo), as well as being able to touch his nose with his tongue while rubbing his belly. It is also common knowledge that once while playing banjo at a concert, he mentioned that his nephew Cian has a foot odor condition that could make a grown man cry and is thus banned from going barefoot henceforth. He has also made mention of the fact that Robin is his favorite child.
