Danish Manzoor (born in 1996) is an Indian taekwondo athlete who hails from Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. He is one of the Jammu and Kashmir participants in the 33rd Junior National Taekwondo (Kyorugi & Poomsae) Championship. In 2019, he was also among the top players at the "International Olympic Ranking G1 Championship" which was held in Hyderabad. He has been conferred with ‘Best Male Athlete’ of the tournament award in the Tokey Memorial Open Taekwondo Championship (Kyorugi and Poomsae) held in April 2021 at Ropar, Punjab.[1]

Career[]

Danish Manzoor started his sports career in 2010 at the age of 13, when he won a bronze medal at Indore Stadium Srinagar in the Inter-District Taekwondo championship.[2][3][4] He admires his first two taekwondo coaches, Saajid Ashraf Bhat and Ashfaq Ahmad Wani, who introduced him to the district association.[2][5] In 2011, he won gold in state-level tournament. In 2013, he participated in 33rd Junior National Taekwondo (Kyorugi & Poomsae) Championship which was held from October 18 to 20, 2013 at Sports Complex, Puducherry.[6] In 2015, he participated in National-level taekwondo tournament in Cuttack, Odisha, where he reached the quarter finals. In 2016, he played another 54-Kg weight category National-level tournament held from 17 to 21 May 2016 in Mahaveer (Rajasthan),[7][8] where he got silver medal which made him eligible for Asian Championship and Asian Indoor Games trial.[3][9][10][11] In 2018, he joined Atul International Taekwondo Academy and is playing in all tournaments under the coach Atul Pangotra.[8]

He was also among the top players at the "International Olympic Ranking G1 Championship", which was held from 11 to 16 June 2019 at the Vijay Kotla Reddy Bhaskar Stadium in Hyderabad.[2][12]

In April 2021, Danish was awarded the ‘Best Male Athlete’ of the tournament award at the Tokey Memorial Open Taekwondo Championship (Kyorugi and Poomsae), where he represented J&K and won a silver medal in the tournament, held in Ropar, Punjab.[13]
