Danni Watson (born March 28, 2003) is a Bermudian international footballer[1] who plays as a center-back and full back for the Bermuda National Academy.[2]

Early life and education[]

Watson was born on 28 March 2003. She enrolled in the Elliott Primary School in 2009 and then later went to T. N. Tatem Middle School and Saltus Grammar School.[3] Watson is currently studying at Berkshire School in Sheffield Massachusetts.

Career[]

Watson has been playing football since she was five years old. At the age of seven, Watson joined the Somerset Cricket Club Trojans (SCC), where she was a member of the girls team til 2016 and then joined the boys team, of which she is currently a part of.[4]

At the age of 14, she was selected as the Captain of the Bermuda U17 Women’s team, during which she acquired a place in the CONCACAF Championships in Nicaragua.[5] Watson also won a CONCACAF GOLD Medal as Co-Captain in the U15 Women’s Division 2 Championships a year later.[6]

In 2014, Watson played for CP Athletic Development Women’s Futsal team for a year scoring several goals.[7] When she was 16 years old, Watson coached the BPro Women's Sports School U11 Girls Team that won in Bermuda’s largest youth tournament. During this time, She was also given the honor of an introduction to FIFA President Gianni Infantino[8] as BDA U17 Captain.[9]

In 2019, Watson was selected for the WWNEPSSA ALL-STAR League and even qualified for the NEPSAC playoffs with Berkshire School.[10][11] As of 2021, she is a member of the Bermuda National Academy Senior[12] and U20 teams and former member of the U17 and U15 Teams.[13] Watson currently also served as a Bermuda Football Association Youth Referee and a Bascome Leadership Football Academy Under 17 Girls Coach.[14]
