Darren Charles Barnet (born April 27, 1991) is an American actor who is known for playing Paxton Hall-Yoshida in the Netflix series Never Have I Ever. He also has a lead role in the film American Pie Presents: Girls' Rules.
Early life and education[]
Darren Charles Barnet was born on April 27, 1991, in Los Angeles.[1][2] His mother is of Swedish and Japanese descent, and his father has German and Cherokee ancestry.[3][4] Barnet's grandfather was swing musician Charlie Barnet.[4] Barnet has an older and younger sister.[2]
Barnet and his mother relocated to the suburbs of Orlando, Florida at the age of 12.[5][6] He graduated from Dr. Phillips High School in 2009, where he was the lacrosse team captain.[7] He graduated from Berry College with a Bachelor of Arts in 2013, where he acted in plays and short films.[1][5][8][9] He wanted to be an actor since the age of five, but did not seriously pursue acting until college.[5][6] He speaks Japanese and conversational Spanish, and studied French.[1][2]
Career[]
After graduating in 2013, Barnet returned to Los Angeles to become an actor. He worked at SoulCycle on Sunset Boulevard as a bike attendant and front desk associate.[2] He also got his California real estate license in May 2015.[2] He made his acting debut in 2017.[10] In 2019, Barnet was cast in the Netflix series Never Have I Ever. He portrays Paxton Hall-Yoshida, the love interest of Devi, the show's lead.[11][3]
