David Adams (born January 3, 1975)[citation needed] is an American video game designer best known for his work on Darksiders and Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium.
Biography[]
In 1997, Adams founded Stone Jackal Studios in Gilbert, Arizona, and developed his first game, Crush! Deluxe, via publisher MegaMedia Corp.[citation needed] He left Stone Jackal Studios to co-found Realm Interactive to pursue the development of a new game based on the popular BBS door game Trade Wars.[citation needed] Named Trade Wars: Dark Millennium, Realm Interactive generated interest in the industry around the nostalgia of the old game.[1] NCSoft initially decided to publish Trade Wars, but later decided that since the game had changed significantly it should be renamed as Exarch.[2] NCSoft later purchased Realm Interactive and moved its team from Mesa, Arizona, to their offices in Austin, Texas.[citation needed]
In 2005, Adams left NCSoft to found Vigil Games with other former NCSoft employees, where they began work on Darksiders: Wrath of War. In March 2006, Vigil Games was acquired by THQ.[citation needed] As a part of THQ's Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Vigil Games was closed on January 23, 2013. Just days later, Adams became the CEO of a new Austin-based branch of Crytek, known as Crytek USA. The studio hired many of Vigil Games' former employees, based purely off their work under his leadership.[3] Adams left Crytek USA 18 months thereafter to found an independent studio, Gunfire Games.[citation needed]
