Delmé Quartet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Delmé Quartet was founded in 1962 by its founding members, Granville Delmé Jones and Jurgen Hess (violins), John Underwood (viola) and Joy Hall (cello), during a cab ride over the London Bridge. Galina Solodchin replaced Granville Jones following the latter's death in the late 1960s. John Trusler and Jonathan Williams replaced Hess and Hall in the 1970s. Robert Simpson's String Quartet No. 9 was commissioned by the Delmé.
