Delorean Highway is the debut studio album by Australian multi-instrumentalist musician Jay Watson, who released it under his music moniker of GUM.[2][3][4][5][6] The album was digitally released by Spinning Top Music in Australia on May 30, 2014.[7] Most of the material from this album had been recorded in 2011, leaving Watson to note that "when it finally came out it felt so good! But it felt so old to me".[8] An LP release of Delorean Highway was restricted to a thousand copies.[8]

Reception[]

The album was described as a collection of "paranoid pop songs" that are "mostly about falling in love and all of the things that he [Watson] thinks are going to kill him."[9] In October 2019, Delorean Highway came at no.19 on Happy Mag's list of "The 25 best psychedelic rock albums of the 2010s".[10] Chris Wheeldon wrote on behalf of RTRFM, that, "It is a satisfying cohabitation of electronic and acoustic sounds, interconnecting while harmonised by their mutual presence, at times erupting simultaneously so to alter songs' expectations, like 3/4 in Delorean Highway."[11]
