Democratic Union (Greece)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Democratic Union (Greek: Δημοκρατική Ένωση) or Democratic Union Party (Greek: Κόμμα Δημοκρατικής Ενώσεως) was a political party in Greece, founded by the prominent liberal and republican politician Alexandros Papanastasiou.

History[]

The party first contested national elections in 1926,[1] when they won 17 seats in the parliamentary elections, becoming the fourth-largest party in the Hellenic Parliament. Despite their success in 1926, the party did not contest the 1928 elections,[2] and later disappeared.
