Derek Sweeting QC is a British lawyer, and the Chair of the Bar Council for 2021.[1]

Sweeting was educated at Clare College, Cambridge and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.[2]

In April 2021, Sweeting questioned whether the term 'BAME' (Black, Asian, and Minority ethnic) could "disguise the fact that there's massive under-representation of black members of our community at the bar".[3]
