Devendra Kulathar also referred to as Devendra Kulam[1] is a subcaste of Devendrakula Velalar an agricultural community found in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.[2] The territorial divisions among the Devendra Kulathar are Cholan, Kongan, Pandiyan, Kudumban, Eshwaran, Devendra. [3]

Current status[]

This community is classified as SC caste under positive discrimination by the government.[4]

Marriage[]

Clans regulate marriage alliances. Their clans namely Kandhan kootam, Masaniamman Kulam, Karupparaayan Kulam, Ankalamman Kulam, Adi Kaliamman Kulam, Maduraiveeran Kulam and Kamakshiamman Kulam. Each kulam is affiliated to a deity.[5][better source needed]
