Diabotical uses an engine written from scratch, the "Glitch Engine".[5]
The game entered closed beta on February 28, 2020,[6] with a full release on September 3, 2020.[7] The game is free to play, and $250,000 has been set aside for esport competitions in the game's first year.[3][5]
