"Diggin' on You" was written and produced by American musician Babyface, and was released as the fourth and final single from TLC's second studio album, CrazySexyCool (1994). It contains a "jeep beat", with lyrics portraying a "streetwise vibe".[1] Lynn Ford of The Indianapolis Star summarized the song as a boy hooking up with a girl "chillin' with [her] Kool-Aid in a park", and stated that it consisted of "a romantic aura steeped in young love".[2] Writing for the Star Tribune, Chuck Campbell noted that "women do luxuriate in falling in love" in the song.[3] According to Larry Flick of Billboard, several remixes were released for "Diggin' on You". They ranged from a live brass version with jazzhorns, to a pop and house hybrid.[1]

The music video for the track was directed by F. Gary Gray, who previously collaborated with them on the video of "Waterfalls" that same year. Gray wanted to make a "kind of movie/concert film." "It was a challenge to do, to say the least," says Gray. "We did it in the middle of their tour, and the venue gave us a hard time. That made it very difficult to shoot, and it placed a lot of limits on me creatively." The video uses the L.A. Live Mix and it shows the group performing the song during the Budweiser Superfest with additional backstage footage. Some special effects are used, notably at the beginning when the ladies appear on stage. Portions of the performance footage were shot at the MGM Grand Las Vegas and Madison Square Garden.
