History[]

The Beginning 1971-1975

Dimerco was founded on July 15, 1971, in Taipei, Taiwan with a team of 8 people.

In 1972 the company was certified as a customs broker and from there established itself as a Taiwan-based Air Freight Transportation Service Provider with 3 offices.

Going International 1976-1983

To service a growing global customer base in 1976 Dimerco opened its first overseas office in New York. Other US offices were opened in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Boston; then branches in Hong Kong, Manila and London. In 1980 the Singapore office opened to become the gateway to the Southeast Asia market and brought the number of offices to 16.

Southeast Asian Expansion 1984-1990

To expand the network and services in Southeast Asia, offices were opened in Malaysia, Thailand & Indonesia.[2] Developing its shipping expertise Dimerco became known as an Asia Pacific-based Air &Ocean Freight Transportation Service Provider.

China Focus 1991-1995

During this time, China's ‘open-door policy’ allowed limited direct foreign investment. Dimerco set up its first office in a single suite of the Shanghai Peace Hotel in July 1991 with the aim to establish China as a core market.

As part of a major expansion offices were opened in Beijing, Xiamen, Qingdao, Fuzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Guangzhou bringing the total to 38.

Global Service Commitment 1996-2007

Harnessing the power of broadband & the internet, the Dimerco eChain System for integrated transportation & logistics management was developed. The focus on digital logistics led to rapid growth and 98 offices in the group.

On Oct 15, 2001, Dimerco was publicly listed[3] on the Gre Tai Securities Market (now the Taipei Exchange) and the strategy was formulated to be The Most Competitive Global Transportation & Logistics Service Provider, Integrator & Consultant.

Accelerating Global Growth and Digitization 2008-2020

As ocean business expanded and contract logistics strengthened, Dimerco could serve as a single-source logistics partner.

New markets were exploited in India, USA and Europe. In 2014, Dimerco achieved Top 10 APAC 3PL by air freight volume (Armstrong & Associates).

In 2009, the Dimerco Value Plus System®[4] was created to ensure a standard platform, consistent operating processes and quality practice across all customers’ supply chains in all locations.

In 2020, Dimerco and Elanders entered joint venture for air and sea freight forwarding business in the newly founded German subsidiary of Swedish public company Elanders Group, ITG Air & Sea GmbH.[5]
