On February 18, 2021, it was announced that A24 would produce Disappointment Blvd., which is written and directed by Ari Aster and starring Joaquin Phoenix.[1] On June 21, 2021, Nathan Lane, Patti LuPone, Kylie Rogers, and Amy Ryan were announced as additions to the cast.[2] In July 2021, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Denis Ménochet, Michael Gandolfini, Zoe Lister-Jones Eddie Kaye Thomas Thomas Ian Nicholas and Hayley Squires joined the cast of the film.[3]

Principal photography began on June 28, 2021 in Montreal, Quebec and is expected to conclude in October 2021.[4][5][6][7]
