Divisional Public School Faisalabad (also known as Divisional Public School & College, Faisalabad) is a selective school based in Faisalabad, Pakistan.[1] The campus of school is situated in the heart of city, it is the oldest school in the Faisalabad city, and also the largest in terms of the total area.[2]
Brief history and background[]
The School was established as a high school in 1963. It covers an area of 51 acres and is situated in the heart of the city with lofty buildings to house different sections separately.[citation needed]
Background[]
The scheme of Divisional Public Schools was initiated in 1958-59, when the “Sharif Commission”, a special commission on national education for secondary education submitted detailed recommendations on primary through post-graduate education.[citation needed]
Such institutions were named Divisional Public Schools; the funds required to initiate their operation and maintenance were to be generated through private philanthropy. All the Divisional Public Schools are the offshoots of this plan and owe their existence to the recommendations of the Sharif Commission. The first two Schools were simultaneously built-in Faisalabad and Model Town, Lahore in 1963. Divisional Public School Faisalabad holds particular importance in this regard by embarking itself both as the oldest school of Faisalabad city and the oldest school of Divisional Public School series.[citation needed]
