Dmitriy Aksenov (3 October 1966, Novosibirsk, USSR) — A patron of the arts, chairman of the board at contemporary arts fair Viennacontemporary (Austria). He is also the founder of the Aksenov Family Foundation and chairman of the Board of Directors of .

Biography[]

Dmitriy Aksenov was born 3 October 1966 in Novosibirsk, USSR. In 1989 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) in avionics and space research. In 1999 he obtained an MBA degree in strategic management from the Institute of Business and Business Administration.

Employment[]

2005–Present-day - Founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of the investment and management company (development management of the real estate, communications services, multi-profile investments in Russia and abroad). 2015 - founder of RDI Creative, which, together with Ad Marginem publishers, produced a series of biographies of the lives of both well and lesser-known Russian artists, called Names. The books were published both in Russian and in English.

In 2014 Dmitriy Aksenov took part in the preparations for the Moscow: Urban Space municipal exhibition, as a commissioner in the parallel program of the Venice architectural biennale (Santa Maria Della Pieta church, Venice, curator – Moscow head architect Sergei Kuznetsov).
In September 2014 Dmitriy Aksenov joined the supervising committee of the Capital Institute of the Problems of Contemporary Art.
Dmitriy Aksenov owns 70% of the shares in Viennafair The New Contemporary, and is its only Russian shareholder (following acquisition of VIENNAFAIR ownership interest from the Russian entrepreneur, Mr. Sergey Skaterschikov),^[2] as well as the managing director of the fair. 30% of the shares belong to the VF Beteiligungs KG partnership of Austrian art patrons. In 2015 Viennafair The New Contemporary moved to a new location. It changed its name to Viennacontemporary and took place in Marx Halle, Vienna).^[3][4]
Dmitriy Aksenov's idea to develop society using cultural instruments was the basis of his conception of RDI Group's cultural centers. Projects based on the participatory planning approach are being implemented in each of the residential estate projects being built by RDI, developing cultural programs and urban communities for the territories. Thanks to the work of RDI Creative a "third place" with high-quality content is being created for the residents, who are provided with opportunities in the field of culture irrespective of location or income. They can each share their cultural achievements and at the same time learn from the cultural experience of the other communities. For example, in April 2015 the New-Molokovo (Moscow region) residential estate cultural center was opened, as were the Out-Of-Town Quarter and the Southern Vidnoe residential estate cultural centers in March 2016 and June 2016 respectively.
In April 2013 Dmitriy Aksenov was awarded the prestigious Personal Contribution annual award of The Art Newspaper Russia for developing the Viennacontemporary arts fair VIENNAFAIR. Joseph Backschtein, the Moscow contemporary art biennale commissioner, and Suria Sadekova, editor of the Art Market section of The Art Newspaper Russia, presented the award. In 2015 Aksenov became one of the top hundred people in Russian art for 2014, according to The Art Newspaper Russia, occupying 25th place.

Major donator to the fund for the development of MIPT. Since 2014 – a member of the managing committee of the fund managing capital for the development of MIPT.
In 2016, with the support and personal participation of Dmitriy Aksenov and dedicated to the 50th anniversary of MIPT, the all-Russian physics and technology test "Go and Solve it!" was launched.
