Dusten Devoil Knight (born September 7, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 28th round of the 2013 MLB draft. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 2021 for the Baltimore Orioles.

Amateur career[]

Knight attended Tahlequah High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.[1] Undrafted out of high school, he attended Connors State College for two years,[2] before transferring to University of Texas–Pan American in Edinburg, Texas for two years.[3] He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 28th round of the 2013 MLB draft.[4]

Professional career[]

San Francisco Giants[]

Knight spent 2013 through 2018 seasons in the Giants organization. He played for the Arizona League Giants, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, Augusta GreenJackets, San Jose Giants, Sacramento River Cats, and Richmond Flying Squirrels during his time with them.[5]

Minnesota Twins[]

Knight was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the minor league phase of the 2018 Rule 5 draft.[6] Knight opened the 2019 season with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the Twins organization, going 1.59 ERA over 7 games before being released.[7]

Diablos Rojos del México[]

He then signed with the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League, going 2–4 with a 5.55 ERA over 23 games with them. He was released on July 15.[7]

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs[]

Knight signed with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League on July 24.[7] He finished the season going 3–6 with a 3.78 ERA and 92 strikeouts over 78.2 innings. Knight did not play in 2020 with the cancellation of the 2020 minor league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Baltimore Orioles[]

Knight signed with the Baltimore Orioles as a minor league free agent in February 2021.[8] He opened the season with the Norfolk Tides.[9] His contract was purchased by the Baltimore Orioles on August 4, 2021.[10] Knight struggled with Baltimore, making 7 appearances with a 9.35 ERA and 11 strikeouts. On September 19, the Orioles designated Knight for assignment.[11] He was outrighted to Norfolk on September 21.
