El Watania 2, also known as Télévision Tunisienne 2, is the second Tunisian public national television channel. It is owned and operated by Télévision Tunisienne (formerly ERTT). Formerly known as Canal 21 (1994–2007), then as Tunisie 21 (2007–2011), and as El Watania 2 since 2011. The television channel started broadcasting on November 7, 1994.

History[]

[fr] was born on June 12, 1983 and closed in 1989 as its frequencies had been sold to the French television channel France 2. In 1994, the French media criticized the re-election as president of Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali, then the latter decided to resume the frequencies and relaunched the channel under the name of Canal 21.[1] In 2007 it changed its name to Tunisie 21. In 2011, following the revolution in Tunisia, this channel changed its name to Télévision Tunisienne 2.
