El Húsar de la Muerte (English: The Hussar of Death) is a 1925 Chilean silent film. It was directed and starred by Pedro Sienna.

The movie narrates the adventures of the guerrilla leader Manuel Rodríguez during the Reconquista, until his death in 1818.[1]

The movie lasts 65 minutes, and was premiered in Santiago, Chile, on 24 November 1925.

Production & Film Restoration[]

Director Pedro Sienna selected the cast from people that he found on the street.[2] The film was considered lost until 1959, when it was found in deplorable condition and with some title cards incomplete, but thanks to Pedro Sienna's own supervision,[3] the film was restored in 1962 by , with music by Sergio Ortega[2] (with the Chilean government help).
