Elias Wessel (born 1978) is a German artist living and working in Germany and New York City.[1]

Life[]

Wessel was born in Bonn. He received his diploma in photography and visual perception from the University of Art and Design in Offenbach am Main[2] in cooperation with the Städelschule, Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Frankfurt am Main. He is committed to developing photographic procedures and concepts which culminate in abstract images that reflect contemporary discourses within society. The works function as both an important contribution to the issues of social and political development (including digitization, surveillance, identity, gentrification) and the historical conversation between photography and painting.[3]
