Ember Technologies was founded in 2010 by inventor and entrepreneur Clayton Alexander.[1] The company based in Westlake Village, California makes drinkware and dishware that can be thermally controlled. The first product is a temperature adjustable travel mug, designed by Ammunition Design Group.[2] The temperature of the liquid within the mug can be controlled either manually by rotating a dial on the bottom of the mug, or with the Ember app that will be available for Android and iOS.[3] The company has since released their second product called the Ember Mug.[4] This mug designed for desk use is also capable of keeping the preferred temperature of the beverage for hours at a time.

More recently Ember Technologies have updated and upgraded both products, calling them the Ember Travel Mug 2[5] and the Ember Mug 2.[6] Both products have been upgraded to include an auto-sleep feature as well as an improved battery life.[7]
