Emma Heesters (born 8 January 1996) (pronunciation: emā hīsṭars) is a Dutch singer and television personality, mainly known for performing covers of popular songs on her own YouTube channel.[1] She began her music career in 2014 and currently has over 4.8 million subscribers on YouTube.[2][3]

Biography[]

Emma Heesters was born in the Netherlands, and being the daughter of a music teacher, she was surrounded by music in her childhood. Her mother is Willian Heesters, her father is Ludo Heesters, and she had a brother. Her religion is Christianity.[4] She had an early talent for music and practiced to be a singer under the supervision of her mother.[3] After her education, she started consistently uploading her covers to YouTube and has amassed over 4.8 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.[5][6][7] She was discovered in June 2016 by English music executive Taylor Jones (subsequently signing a management deal with The Hello Group), and later signed by Eddie O'Loughlin to Republic Records / Eddie O Entertainment and Universal Music Holland.[citation needed]

Career[]

In 2019 she was the first Dutch winner of MTV's Push Award and gained Platinum status for her single "Pa Olvidarte" with Rolf Sanchez,[8] she featured in a song by the band Boyce Avenue plus collaborated with them on their European tour, and took to television performing in Beste Zangers a Dutch television program, the web series Jachtseason of StukTV, and the game show, I Can See Your Voice.[9][10][11]

Heesters was named by Top40 NL[12] as the most successful Dutch artist of the year so far in 2020 and later in November was named winner of MTV EMA's Best Dutch Act.[11][13]
