Erie Meyer is an American technologist and public entrepreneur.[1] Meyer currently serves as Chief Technologist of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).[2] Meyer previously served as Chief Technologist of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) under FTC Chair Lina Khan in 2021.[3] Meyer had also served as a technologist in the office of FTC Commissioner Rohit Chopra.[4]

Meyer is the co-founder of Tech Ladymafia with Aminatou Sow. In June 2021, Meyer was appointed as the Chief Technologist at the Federal Trade Commission.[5][6] Upon Rohit Chopra's appointment as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), she moved to Chief Technologist at the CFPB.

Education and career[]

Meyer graduated from American University in 2006, and began her career in digital service delivery and consumer protection.[7] During her career, Meyer notably served as the Senior Director at Code for America, a non-profit organization.[8][9] Meyer co-founded Tech LadyMafia with her close friend Aminatou Sow.[10]

Meyer was named Forbes 30 Under 30 for technology[11] and as part of Fedscoop's Top 50 Women in Tech.[12] In 2018, Meyer was featured among "America's Top 50 Women In Tech" by Forbes.[13] Meyer formerly held roles as a Shorenstein Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.[14][15]

Government service[]

Meyer was the co-founder of the United States Digital Service at the White House and the Tech and Innovation team at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.[7] Meyer also stood up the first digital office of the Ohio Attorney General. Meyer previously served as Senior Advisor to the United States Chief Technology Officer Todd Park at the White House,[16]

At the White House during the Obama administration, Meyer worked on Open Data Initiatives, the Presidential Innovation Fellows program, and cross-agency programs to improve technology in government.[17] Throughout her time Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the office of Commissioner Rohit Chopra, Meyer has worked on the Safeguards Rule technology oversight issues.[18][19] In 2021, she was hired by FTC Chair Lina Khan to serve as the agency's Chief Technologist.[20]
