Ernesto Gismondi (25 December 1931 – 31 December 2020[1]) was an Italian designer, founder of Artemide.[2] Gismondi was best known for designing light fixtures.
Education[]
Gismondi was born in Sanremo. He earned his degree in aeronautical engineering form Milan Polytechnic in 1957, from Professional School of Engineering in Rome in 1959.[3]
Career[]
In 1960, Gismondi founded Artemide[4] with fellow designer, . As Artemide expanded, they acquired 24 subsidiaries and became the Artemide Group. In 2014 the Artemide Group acquired the Italian design brand, Danese. Gismondi also served as the vice president of Italy's Association of Industrial Design.[5]
