Erpingham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. Its area of 2,490 acres (1,010 ha) had a population of 541 in 210 households at the 2001 Census.^[1] Including Ingworth it increased to 700 at the 2011 Census.^[2]

Governance[]

For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of North Norfolk. An electoral ward in the same name had a population of 2,344 at the 2011 Census.^[3]

Erpingham is 4 miles (6.4 km) to the north of Aylsham and gave its name to the adjoining Hundred,^[4] held by the family of Sir Thomas Erpingham for many generations.

The village name means "Homestead/village of Eorp's people".

Church[]

Notable people[]

Suffolk serial killer Steve Wright, who murdered five Ipswich prostitutes in late 2006, was born at West Beckham, then in Erpingham Rural District.
