The Esteban Solar Car Team is a student-run team from the École Polytechnique de Montréal, the affiliated engineering school of the University of Montreal.

The organization aims to design, build and run sun-powered electric vehicles, and had produced nine prototypes as of 2018. Another major purpose of the project is to demonstrate the feasibility of electric vehicles and to promote the use of renewable energies.

Esteban was founded in 1998.

Esteban V[]

Esteban V was designed in 2008 and raced in the World Solar Challenge 2009.

Esteban VI[]

Construction of Esteban VI started during the summer of 2011. In July 2012, Esteban VI became the first Esteban prototype to race in the Formula Sun Grand Prix and to qualify in the American Solar Challenge.^[1]

Upon completion of the American Solar Challenge 2012, Esteban received the Teamwork Award and the Array Power Award^[2] in a tie with the winning team, the University of Michigan.

Esteban 9[]

Esteban 9 is the most recent competing prototype of the team. The conception of the prototype started in September 2016 and it was officially unveiled in April 2018. Esteban 9 won first place in both the Formula Sun Grand Prix 2018 and 2019 edition. Estban also finished fourth at the American Solar Challenge 2018. Esteban also won the "Best Electrical Design Award" and "Dynamics award" in 2018 as well as the "Teamwork award" in 2019.

Firts MOV (Multi Occupant vehicule) built by the team. Car unveiled during the summer 2021.
