Ethan Ryan (born 12 May 1996) is an Ireland international rugby league footballer who plays as a wing, centre or fullback for Hull Kingston Rovers in the Betfred Super League.[4]

He previously played for the Bradford Bulls in the Betfred Championship and League 1.

Background[]

Ryan was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England.

He is a product of the Bradford Bulls Academy system and signed his first professional contract in October 2015.[5] Ethan previously played for local amateur sides Queensbury and West Bowling ARLFC and was also part of the Keighley Cougars scholarship.

2016 - 2016 Season

Ryan featured in the pre-season friendlies against the Leeds Rhinos and the Castleford Tigers.

Ethan featured in Round 5 (Oldham). He played in Round 7 (London Broncos)[6] then in Round 10 (Dewsbury Rams). Ryan played in Round 17 (Workington Town) then in Round 19 (Halifax). He played in Round 21 (Whitehaven) to Round 23 (Featherstone Rovers). Ryan featured in the Championship Shield in Game 3 (Oldham) to the Semi Final (Dewsbury Rams). He scored against the London Broncos (1 try), Workington Town (2 tries), Halifax (1 try), Whitehaven (3 tries), Oldham (2 tries), the Dewsbury Rams (2 tries), the Swinton Lions (3 tries) and the Sheffield Eagles (2 tries).

Midway through the season Ryan extended his contract by 2 years.[7]

2017 - 2017 Season

Ryan featured in the pre-season friendly against the Keighley Cougars.

Ethan featured in Round 1 (Hull Kingston Rovers) to Round 16 (Dewsbury Rams) then in Round 19 (Oldham) to Round 21 (Hull Kingston Rovers). He played in the Championship Shield Game 5 (Sheffield Eagles) to Game 7 (Rochdale Hornets). Ryan also played in the 2017 Challenge Cup in Round 4 (Featherstone Rovers). He scored against the Hull Kingston Rovers (2 tries), the Swinton Lions (3 tries), Toulouse Olympique (1 try), the Batley Bulldogs (1 try), Oldham (5 tries), the Sheffield Eagles (1 try), Halifax (2 tries) and the Rochdale Hornets (2 tries).

At the end of the season Ethan signed with Leigh Centurions however following Leigh Centurions' relegation from Super League he signed a 2-year extension to stay with the Bradford Bulls.

2018 - 2018 Season

Ryan featured in the pre-season friendlies against the Sheffield Eagles, the Dewsbury Rams, Toronto Wolfpack and the Keighley Cougars.

Ethan featured in Round 1 (York City Knights) to Round 25 (Oldham R.L.F.C.) then in the Semi Final (Oldham R.L.F.C.) to the Final (Workington Town). Ryan also played in the 2018 Challenge Cup in Round 3 (West Wales Raiders) to Round 5 (Warrington Wolves). He scored against the West Wales Raiders (7 tries), the Keighley Cougars (4 tries), Hunslet R.L.F.C. (1 try), the Coventry Bears (2 tries), Doncaster R.L.F.C. (5 tries), the London Skolars (7 tries), Newcastle Thunder (2 tries), the Hemel Stags (1 try), the North Wales Crusaders (3 tries), the York City Knights (1 try), Whitehaven R.L.F.C. (3 tries) and Oldham R.L.F.C. (2 tries).

2019 - 2019 Season

Ryan featured in the pre-season friendlies against Halifax R.L.F.C., the Dewsbury Rams, the Batley Bulldogs and Toronto Wolfpack. He scored against Halifax R.L.F.C. (1 try) and Batley Bulldogs (1 try).

Ethan featured in Round 1 (Featherstone Rovers) to Round 27 (Rochdale Hornets). Ryan also played in the 2019 Challenge Cup in Round 4 (Keighley Cougars) to Quarter Final (Halifax R.L.F.C.). He scored against the Swinton Lions (1 try), the Sheffield Eagles (2 tries), the York City Knights (5 tries), the Batley Bulldogs (1 try), the Leigh Centurions (1 try), the Keighley Cougars (1 try), the Featherstone Rovers (2 tries), Halifax R.L.F.C. (2 tries), the Rochdale Hornets (4 tries, 1 goal) and the Barrow Raiders (1 try).

At the end of the 2019 season Ethan signed a two year deal with Super League side Hull Kingston Rovers.
