Fabrizio Romano (born 21 February 1993) is an Italian journalist who specializes in football transfers.[1] He has worked for Sky Sport Italy since the age of 19 and has amassed a large following on social media, having over six million followers on Twitter.[2] He is one of the most trusted transfer specialists in the football world.[3]

Career[]

Romano was born in Naples on 21 February 1993.[4] Having attended Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, his football transfer journalist career began when he was 18, after receiving inside information from an Italian agent at Barcelona regarding Mauro Icardi.[5][6] Since joining Sky Sport Italy at age 19, he has created and built contacts with clubs, agents and intermediaries all over Europe.[7] Romano also works as a reporter for The Guardian and has several millions of followers on social media, notably on Twitter and Instagram.[7] He is based in Milan.[1]

Romano is known for his famous tagline "here we go", which he uses when announcing a new transfer deal.[7] According to 90min, he is one of the "most trusted" transfer-related pundits in the football business.[1] Romano also writes for CBS Sports and is the founder of SOS Fanta, a fantasy football website that he created in 2014.[8]

Personal life[]

Romano is a supporter of English club Watford.[9] He is a polyglot, and can speak English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.[5]
