Farad is a former settlement in Nevada County, California.[1] Farad is located on the Southern Pacific Railroad, 1 mile (1.6 km) south-southwest of .[1] The Truckee River crosses Farad halfway between Truckee, CA and Reno, NV.[2]

The Farad Hydroelectric Plant was built alongside the Truckee River at
