Béisbol Doble A ("Double-A Baseball"), governed by the Federación de Béisbol Aficionado de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico Amateur Baseball Federation), is a Puerto Rican amateur baseball spring and summer baseball league, founded in 1940 and based in San Juan. The season normally starts in mid-February, and ends with the Carnaval de Campeones (Carnival of Champions) final in September. They play a weekend schedule (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), and their all-star game is held soon after the regular season and before the playoffs. The Mulos de Juncos are the defending champions.

League structure[]

As of the 2021 baseball season, it had 43 teams, grouped into 8 divisions of 5 or 6 teams each. For this season, there is a new team: Gigantes de Carolina playing in the Metropolitan Division. To accommodate the Giants, the Atenienses de Manati will return to their old home in the North Division. Another change this season is the move of the Mayaguez Sultanes franchise.  They have become the new Libertadores de Hormigueros and remain in the Northwest Division.

Regular Season Format[]

The 2021 regular season consists of 12 games, in which every team faces their divisional opponents 2 or 3 times during the season, and at season's end, the top 4 teams in the division qualify for the postseason.

Playoffs[]

Divisional semifinals and finals[]

The top 4 teams in every division qualify for the postseason (32 Teams): Divisional Semifinals (Best of 3 Format), where there are paired according to the regular-season finish, and the top seed faces the 4th seed, and the 2nd seed faces the 3rd seed. The winners of the divisional semifinals faces each other for the Divisional Championship (Best of 5 Format), and the winner of that series wins their respective division. Then advanced to the or Champions' Carnival as they are known in Puerto Rico. to play 7 games, one with each other divisional champs.

Carnaval de Campeones[]

The (Champions' Carnival) is the second phase of the playoff system in the where all 8 divisional champions face each other one time in order to crown the national champion. The pairings of all the Champions' Carnival series are determined by the aggregate of the teams overall regular season and divisional playoffs winning percentage. The National Semifinals (Best of 5 Format) pairings goes also the top seed against the 4th seed and the 2nd seed faces the 3rd seed. The winners of both semifinals, advance to National Finals (Best of 7 Format).
