Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia

The Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FJCR) —Russian: Федерация Еврейских Общин России (ФЕОР)— is a Russian religious organization that unifies communities of Orthodox Judaism, mostly of Chabad Hassidic movement. It was registered by Ministry of Justice of Russia in 1999.

"The main aim of Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia is to create conditions for full-scale religious and nationally-cultural life of citizens of Russia, who confess Judaism and identify themselves with Jewish people."

Activities[]

The group maintains a department of law defense and struggle against antisemitism.

As of 2007, FJCR embraced 200 communities[2] in 178 cities. Rabbis are working in 42 communities.

94 Sunday schools operate in 72 Russian cities, outside of Moscow, where 11 Sunday schools operate.

29 educational schools are working in 17 cities of Russia. 28 nurseries operate in 15 cities. 13 infant health-improving camps cared or 1000 children from 27 cities in 2007. 5 higher religious educational institutions are available, including refresher courses of Sunday school teachers., 4 special secondary schools have Jewish religious components.[1]

41 synagogues and about 70 community centers are active, including 11 large community centers. Between 2002 and 2007, 5 new synagogue buildings were opened.

Over 100,000 people take part in the group's humanitarian programs.
