Folk Radio UK

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Folk Radio UK, is an independent online folk music Journal that was founded in 2004 by Alex Gallacher.[1] Although based in Somerset,[2][1] they are supported by a team of reviewers from the UK, Europe and the US. Alongside British folk music and Celtic music, they also cover contemporary folk, American primitive, world music and more "progressive, interesting and obscure sounds."[3]

The website features Album Reviews, News, Live Reviews, Interviews, Video and Audio Premieres, as well as a regular Folk Show that explores British folk music and beyond.[4]

It launched a specialist folk music channel on Deezer in 2012.[5][6] Folk Radio UK reached the finals of the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2014 in the media category.[7] In July 2017[8] it launched a dedicated weekly folk show on British online music streaming service Mixcloud. It has also curated playlists on Spotify which are updated regularly to tie in with their online coverage of new music releases.
